|

When I enter an invoice with a shipping amount and then go back later to same invoice (to check what we charged customer for next order) the Shipping field shows $0.00. This is happening on almost every order
Why would my shipping amounts "disappear"?? |

I'm not getting that here, what version of iMagic Inventory are you using?

OK try checking that your installation of Microsoft MDAC and Jet are up to date, you can do this from the Windows Update website. I know there was an old bug in them that could cause this to happen.

| I have checked my dowloads from Microsoft for MDAC and JET on VISTA - would these errors be happening because I have a 64 Bit Operating System? |

No I don't believe it's an issue with 64-bit Vista as such, we do test on that and other 64-bit versions of Windows.
At a guess I'd say that MDAC/Jet have become corrupted in some way so they'd need to be reinstalled. You could try the related question in the FAQ page which describes how to reinstall MDAC/Jet, although I suspect the folders would be different for Vista:

But as a test, what happens if you create a new invoice, leave everything else blank but enter an amount in the Shipping field then close the invoice. Then re-edit the same invoice, is the Shipping amount saved?

I did what you suggested and did a dummy invoice with shipping only of $100.00 closed it. Went back in to add a PO number and mark paid and closed it.
When I open it the next time the shipping amount has changed to $40.00....picking up the last amount of shipping I had entered for a customer.
Many of my orders - but not all - show $0.00 for shipping when we did charge the customer shipping...this is creating a nightmare of accounting! |

I'm a bit lost at present, I can't recreate this issue here and I've had no other reports of this error.
Could you send over your database, perhaps there is an issue with it? If you select Help/Send Database to iMagic Support it should send it through.
There isn't anything special about the Shipping field, it's just a number. So I'm wondering if it's some kind of corruption in the file itself.

| If I send database . a warning comes up that it will go over the internet. I am concerned about security of our competitive info. Is there anyway to securely send? |

You could use something like WinZip and ZIP the database file with a password and then email it over.
