Hi John!

can you please help? We’re trying to make a Print confirmation and this pokes up "no association for file extension" when I click on 'Print Confirmation'.
Ïs there someway to edit the confirmation design?

Best regards

Fredrik

Hi Fredrik,

Thanks for the post and screenshot.

iMagic Hotel Reservation will use whatever application you've set in Windows to open the Confirmation/Receipts etc. So, if you don't have an application set in Windows you'll receive the message 'No association for file extension' and it won't be able to open the Confirmation/Receipt.

What you want to do is make a file association with the application you want to use to open '.RTF' files in Windows. Probably the easiest way to do this is to:

1) Open the folder in Windows where the Confirmation/Receipts are being generated, by default this would be in the Documents folder.

2) Double click on one of the generated confirmation/receipt files to try and open it, Windows will say something like 'How do you want to open this file?'.

3) Choose the application you want to use to open the file, you'd probably want to use WordPad or if you have MS Office then Microsoft Word. Make sure you check the 'Always use this app to open '.RTF files', this will create the 'file association' that the earlier message was talking about.

4) The file should now open in the application. Now whenever you click Print Confirmation, it will open in the application you've chosen.

Regards, John

Hi John!

Thanks. The funny thing is when I tried to choose Wordpad instead of Word it worked, but I want to have Word but it won't work with that, probably some problems in windows interface? Do you know what to do?

Hi Fredrik,

It could be an issue with the installation of Word, essentially if Word can open the RTF files then iMagic Hotel will be able to. As a test try right-clicking on the RTF hotel booking receipt/confirmation file and select 'Open with' and choose Word from the list. Then see if Word can open the file if it can't then I'd suggest a reinstall of Word.

Also, which version of Word are you using? I've just tried with Word 2016 (part of Office 2016 Professional) and it appears to be okay here. That is the file opened as expected.

Regards, John
