I need a reliable and robust piece of stock control software. My business stores products for a variety of customers and despatches their items to their customers. I do not get involved in invoicing for these items. My role is merely fulfilment and despatch.

I think it is critical to set the system up correctly to start but I am not sure how best to do this? I need to periodically send stock holding reports to each of my customers, so it is important that I can produce a report for each customer that only contains details of their products and not everyones stock. Is it sensible to segment stock items belonging to different customers using categories and sub categories or is there another way? Basically I need to link specific stock with specific customers.

Thanks in anticipation of your assistance.

In iMagic Inventory the stock is linked to customers via the invoices. Even if you weren't sending out invoices you'd still need to create them for the stock to be associated with the customers. You can then create a customer report to see which items a customer has.

Thanks for your reply John. Can you suggest the steps I need to take to get started. Would you suggest I set up customers first, then stock items, then the rest?

Thanks

Hi David,

It is hard to say without knowing how many customers you have, type, what you are selling etc. However it would seem unlikely that using the category/sub-category on the items would help in organizing customers. But if it works for you then it works.

Unless you can give some examples then I'd suggest giving it a go for a few days and see how you get on. It might work more easily than you imagined, or it might not be appropriate for you. Either way you should know quite quickly.

Regards, Jon
