We maintain a dispensary / pharmacy of medical items. We receive items which have limited shelf life or have expiration dates. We would like to maintain our stock as such receiving the same item at various points of interval with different use by date and batch number.
However currently we are not able to enter a use by date, neither batch number when we add / receive the stock within the software.
For example we receive today 100 tablets of Aspirin with the batch 007 and the use by date of 10/2017 and tomorrow we receive another shipment of Aspirin with the batch 010 and the use by date of 06/2018. Is there any possibility to have one inventory item with different batch and use by dates? I would like to thank you for your time and efforts.

Hi Christian,

Thanks for the post.

At present the method to use would be Item Tracking, this can be enabled via the menu Configure/Item Tracking. Then for each Item you want tracked you'd check the 'Item Track' when editing the item's details.

For each quantity of an item this will then record information specific to it. In your case the information you'd record would be the batch number and expiration date. When items have been tracked they can be viewed via the menu Inventory/Tracked Items.

I can however appreciate this is not exactly what you are wanting, since you have mentioned that the expiration date applies to a batch of items rather than individual items. So while this method would work it would create more tracked items than would be necessary for your needs.

We could however extend this feature so that it tracks batches rather than individual items, if that is something you would like please contact me via email and we can go through the details in more depth. My contact email can be found here:
